Challenges
What holds software companies back as they scale.
Six challenges we see across startups, growing services firms and enterprise delivery organisations, and how we address each one.
- SMBEnterpriseFragmented cloud estate
Client and internal workloads spread across unmanaged accounts, payment methods and identities, with no single view of ownership or risk.
A governed multi-account foundation - StartupSMBEnterpriseLimited cost visibility
One consolidated bill with no reliable allocation by client, product or environment, which makes margins hard to protect.
Cost allocation and chargeback by client - SMBEnterpriseCustomer security assurance
Enterprise customers expect ISO 27001 and SOC 2 aligned controls, and evidence to support their vendor risk assessments.
Audit-ready controls and evidence - StartupSMBEngineering time lost to operations
Senior engineers spend billable or roadmap hours on patching, incidents and on-call duty.
Managed operations and on-call support - SMBEnterpriseUncontrolled access and handovers
Project closures and staff exits leave active credentials, orphaned resources and incomplete documentation behind.
Identity-led access and structured handovers - StartupScaling beyond cloud credits
Credits run out, and the architecture and spend controls were never designed for production scale.
Credits programmes and production-ready architecture
By company stage
Built for startups, SMBs and enterprises.
Priorities change as a software company grows. Our approach adapts to where you are today and where you are heading.
Startups
- Access to AWS, Google Cloud and Azure startup credit programmes
- Production-ready architecture and CI/CD from day one
- ISO 27001 and SOC 2 aligned controls before enterprise deals
- Spend alerts and right-sizing as usage grows

Growing services firms
- A multi-account landing zone with one account per client
- Cost allocation and chargeback by client and project
- Managed operations and out-of-hours on-call cover
- Licences and devices on one GST invoice, below list

Enterprises
- Multi-account, multi-region and multi-cloud governance
- Centralised security monitoring and audit evidence
- FinOps reporting across business units and clients
- Delivery within your identity, ticketing and change processes

Our approach
A governed foundation. One account per client.
Every client and product runs in its own isolated account, with identity, guardrails, logging and budgets defined once at the organisation level.
prod · stage · dev, budget alert at 80%, client’s own team gets read-only access.
- Single sign-on with MFA for every engineer
- No shared root or admin logins
- Budgets and alerts on every account
Shown with AWS terms. The same pattern works with Azure subscriptions and Google Cloud projects.
Cost governance
Clear cost allocation by client and product.
Account separation and consistent tagging turn one consolidated bill into accurate cost by client, product and environment, ready for pricing, chargeback and margin analysis.
Split by account and tags. Each client’s share is ready to price or bill back.
| Account | This month | Share | Non-production |
|---|---|---|---|
| Client A | ₹2,41,800 | 46% | 34% |
| Client B | ₹1,12,400 | 21% | 41% |
| Client C | ₹58,900 | 11% | 62% |
| Client D | ₹21,300 | 4% | 18% |
| Your products | ₹96,700 | 18% | 28% |

Engagement models
An engagement model for every stage.
From a fixed-scope project for a startup to fully managed operations for an enterprise, choose the level of responsibility that fits your organisation.
Managed
We operate your cloud and client environments end to end: monitoring, incident response, patching, backups, cost governance and security evidence.
- Your engineers stay on delivery
- Monthly operations, cost and security reporting
Co-managed
Your engineers continue to build and release; we provide on-call cover, reviews and the operational disciplines that are hard to staff.
- You retain full administrative access
- Our engineers cover out-of-hours incidents
Projects
Fixed-scope engagements: landing zone setup, migrations, cost optimisation or a security evidence pack. We are approved to run AWS MAP-funded migrations.
- Defined scope, timeline and outcome
- Documentation and runbooks you keep
FAQ
Questions from technology leaders.
- Do you work under our NDA and our clients’ agreements?
- Yes. We work under your NDA and, where required, your client’s terms and data processing agreements, and we provide a named list of engineers with access to each environment.
- Do client environments sit in our organisation or the client’s?
- Either. We design the account structure around your contracts, whether you retain client environments or transfer them at the end of an engagement.
- Will our engineers keep access?
- Yes. In a co-managed model your team retains full administrative access. We add single sign-on, MFA and logging so that access is better controlled, not reduced.
- Can you work with our existing tools and processes?
- Yes. Enterprise engagements work within your existing identity provider, ticketing and change management processes.
- Does DevOps TechLab hold ISO 27001 and SOC 2?
- Yes. DevOps TechLab holds ISO 27001 certification and a SOC 2 report, available to customers on request.
- Can a client migration to AWS be funded?
- DevOps TechLab is approved to run AWS MAP-funded migrations. Eligibility depends on workload size and plan, which we assess in the first consultation. For companies in India, AWS can also be billed in INR on a GST invoice.

Talk to an engineer
Start with a 20-minute review. Leave with a plan.
An engineer looks at your current setup, points out what’s costing you money or risk, and tells you what we’d fix first. No sales deck, no obligation to go ahead.
Every month you wait, the bill grows, the audit gets harder and the AI project waits another quarter.
